Stolen Carte de Sejour

I got my card at the beginning of November, the DW did not I just thought that they were very busy and decided to leave it a week or two, so on Friday I sent an e-mail to enquire how things are going with the DWs card, this morning got a reply saying that according to their records she has received and signed for it . They told me she would have to re-apply sending off all the documents again . Is there any government department that deals with this? this is identity theft and she is a little concerned about it, thanks.

@ Spectrum, something must have gone wrong in your bureau de poste when verifying a pièce d'identité, it should be a check and double check procedure, as described in their regs.

I'm sure this isn't the case but we were waiting for our bank cards having been told they were being delivered by courier. It was around 10 days later on checking it out that we found the courier had delivered the cards to our local 8 a Huit superette who had signed for them! We had been at home all the time waiting for the delivery. So is it possible that your DW's card been sent by courier and ended up at a local collection point?

Ask for the proof of your signature. That should be on record.

One problem is that, since Covid, many delivery drivers don't ask for signatures. They scribble something themselves. We frequently find packages needing signatures just put into our boite.

Well after a lot of conflicting E-Mails, I think two people were replying to my questions, probably working from home, this morning I get one saying that they have found my DWs carte and it would be best if I came to collect it, so a two hour round trip tomorrow, but a result

Advisable to keep and file the attestation piece of paper that the Titre de Séjour is stuck on. Useful for loss, etc.
