I think you can discount the vax-ed but doesn't want to make it public. If he had been vax-ed he would not be where he is now - Covid detention centre.

This morning it was suggested by an Australian lawyer that he has fallen between 2 stools, State and Commonwealth laws. His exemption was compliant with Victorian laws/rules, but not with federal Australian ones. The same lawyer suggests that his appeal to be heard on Monday won't succeed, and if not, then he will need further exceptions for the future because a deportation would bar him from another attempt for 3 years.
The cockup seems to be firmly with the Victorian tennis authorities.

No, the cock up is the fault of the arrogant tennis player who thinks he can ride roughshod over the rules and regs and over the need to be vaccinated. Unless he has a valid medical exemption he should just get jabbed and be done. Silly person that he is.

Yes - it seems to be 100% the tennis authorities at fault - and the Health Minister has published his letter from November that warned them of the situation as well - and instead of heeding the warnings, they tried to pull a fast one with a different type of Visa (let's face it, they do many visas each year and know exactly what is the correct visa to apply for - it was not an honest mistake).
Having said that, he won't necessarily be barred for three years - he can apply for that to be lifted for next year - assuming other requirements are met.
And once again - well done Australia for putting public health and the rule of law above social, political and economic considerations.

If he has a valid reason - why not be upfront about it? Maybe he also has extreme allergies, like Alpha Gal Syndrome. There are still studies being done how and whether sufferers of this extreme allergy might be affected, long term, by a Covid vaccine. No-one can dismiss it, as it's all too current. But it's certainly being monitered.
If Mr Very Important Tennis Player was transparent about his problem, maybe he'd get sympathy rather than slatings!

We should cut him some slack, he's found an infallible cure for Covid: ""I've seen people and I know some people that, through that energetical transformation, through the power of prayer, through the power of gratitude, they manage to turn the most toxic food or most polluted water, into the most healing water. Because water reacts and scientists have proven that, that molecules in the water react to our emotions, to what is being said." A Nobel beckons.

It must be something about elite athletes finding these cures. We mere mortals have no chance - and the prospect of a few of Bill Gates's brain cells via a vaccine needle is all we can hope for.
