what a numpy I am
Yesterday I tried to order from Amazon France my usual HP printer ink. After placing the order I immediately received an email stating my order was annulee. Thinking I'd pressed the wrong button I tried again but got the same response. I replied no I'd try another route. Wondering if for some reason my CA Britline debit card had a stop on it I tried my CA local branch card. At the point of putting theis card's details on Amazon I noticed that the screen stated something along the lines of euro card and I knew it was different to what I saw using the Britline card. So I get out my BL card and for the first time I notice
it's a Visa debit card whereas my local branch card is a Mastercard. Anyhow I continue with the purchase and voila payment was accepted. After a little head scratching I then remember reading a post here about Barclaycard/Visa no longer being accepted by Amazon so there we have it - it's taken me how long to notice that I have a CA Visa debit card and a CA Mastercard debit card - mind you that could be pretty useful for the future.

It is a UK issue - Amazon UK are refusing to take Visa UK Credit cards from January 19th - but Visa debit is still OK, and possibly also non-Visa UK credit cards - as well as AmEx, Mastercard etc. So maybe not your issue.
I had an order issue with my Credit Mutuel Mastercard - I ordered something with a French provider and saved the card details - only for the order to be rejected by the bank. I contacted the bank who said it was my fault and I must have made a typo. Having saved the card details I was able to resubmit the order with exactly the same details and it worked. Banks tell lies also.

For a long time if I order online "Amazon etc" I use a virtual card with just the correct amount of credit on it and a one month expiry date, bit of a pain if placing orders each month or so but a lot safer than using the same card, just an idea.

And a good one, Spectrum. OH does the same thing with a Paypal account : just enough money in it to pay for the order. It's a bit of a fiddle, but worth it from a security point of view.

I had trouble ordering a single Epson black ink cartridge on Amazon.fr for a totally different reason : they wanted a minimum order of four.
Hmm. It's a cheapo printer, and day by day I print less due to online & changing circumstances for both car club & business so 4 cartridges might outlive the life of the printer.
I could order a mixed pack of colour & black but I currently only need black, and not urgently.
Amazon you lost out to Leclerc this time!

@Spectrum @Blaze Thanks for the info re virtual card I shall look into that not that I keep much money in my CA accounts just enough in one for 'shopping' and the other to cover all the h/hold bills.
