Online Banks.

Having lost all faith and trust with the normal on street bank, what century are these people living in? anyone used any of the on-line ones? pros and cons please, thinking of "Ing" as a start, thanks.

Used Axa online, who were very good at the time, but I can’t vouch for their more recent performance.

Should have added that they bought out the BNP Paribas online operation & made a success of it.

Fortuneo - we used them for several years couldn't fault them.

I use Fortuneo .. as a back-up Bank account to feed my Fortuneo Assurance Vie.
Excellent advice .. they even offered to speak to me in English at the beginning when I was learning the ropes ref my Ass. Vie .. tho I declined politely as I needed to learn ..

I switched from CA to Boursorama https://www.boursorama-banque.com a few years ago and didn't have any problems with the assistance Boursorama gave in the moving of direct debits, etc followed by the closure of my CA account. I also put enough into a Livret A (5000€ ?) and have enough monthly pension being paid in to give me a free "credit" Gold card including travel insurance.

I can bank using a PC web browser or an app on my smart phone. I download statements using the web browser. As well as PDF they have various versions,e.g. CSV and Quicken QIF, to load into accounts software. I'm still using the last UK version of MS Money/Win10 (Money 2005 can still be downloaded e.g. https://tinyurl.com/ycvvu5oy ) for all my accounts and generating data for my tax return.

The only annoyance (which is probably the same for most online banks) is paying in cheques as they don't have any physical presence. So I have to scan/photograph the cheque, fill in some details online and then post the cheque. The postage stamps are the only expenses I've had (and there were some an introductory inducement payments totalling over 100€).

Axa online is a catastrophe at the moment. New system installed 1/1 since when I cannot access the account. Many others in similar or worse positions.

@Elsie I tried the MSMoney 2005 “upgrade” but it hangs when converting my 2002 files. I had to reinstall 2002. I am Win10. Make sure you have a backup before attempting this

I upgraded many years ago to that final version while using Win7 and I don't remember having any particular problems - my prior version would have been Money 1997. I've since moved to Win10 and again don't remember any problems. But perhaps, if I did, I found solutions online, e.g. https://tinyurl.com/yc3vlze3

That UK version of Money I gave the link for will only import .mny files from older UK versions of Money. It will not import Money 2002 International/US .mny files as they have a different format.

They other way of moving versions (not too much of a problem if you don't have many accounts) would be to export each each account as a .QIF file and import that file into the later version of Money.
