Zemmour found guilty of hate speech

Far-right French presidential candidate Eric Zemmour has been fined €10,000 (£8,350) by a Paris court for hate speech.
The case was launched over a TV appearance, where he described unaccompanied migrant children as "thieves", "rapists" and "murderers".
Eric Zemmour will appeal against his conviction according to his lawyer.

I noticed in a recent poll in France that he's taking support away from LePenn and if Macron runs again it looks like it might be a toss up between Macron and Valérie Pécresse in the end.
Although as we know polls can't be trusted.

He's weakening any hope the far right might have had of winning (pigs might fly).
The question is, are the French ready for a woman President ?

I encountered a Zemmour fan by accident recently
Patronising git who thinks women are brainless, and a foreigners know nothing.
I smiled sweetly and let him prattle on.
There was no point my saying anything.

Isn't there a possibility of Le Pen and Zemmour teaming up? It would make sense for both of them.

Do polls really mean anything when all the candidates haven't declared yet?

Definitively no, polls mean nothing - even after all candidates have declared. The sample type or size may be flawed. Some people will not tell the pollster the truth. Some people change their minds - even at the last minute.

However they are indicative and you can be sure that some potential candidates will be tweaking their offerings on the basis of what the polls are saying.
