Please view a screenshot tabulation of recent speeds. The ones with vertical bars and LTE indicate the NR28 NSA 5G service in Parthenay.

Well thanks for the link to Free @Pachapapa , who it seems cannot even find our commune let alone provide any coverage even at 3G.
But then I knew that already.

Perhaps you have mistyped your address and confused the free server.
On the other hand my village shows a lot of medium green NR28 5G NSA with a squiggly line in light green adjacent to the River Thouet in 4G

I can't make heads or tails of the info on that linked website but from other websites the nearest tower is some distance away and behind hills as the crow flies from my location. The tower is shown as serving Orange, SFR, and Bouygues providers and none of them are transmitting 5g at the moment, only 2, 3, and 4g so it wouldn't make any difference if I signed up with yet another provider and bought the latest bells and whistles phone it would remain an expensive ornament on the shelf and only ever be switched on to receive bank logging in security codes that can't be retrieved any other way.Pachapapa wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 3:44 pmI live in la France profonde in la gâtine around 12 kms from Parthenay and a well known metropolis of just over 10,000.
At home I use 4G because I only have a Huawei B715s-23c modem/router.
When I visit Parthenay or elsewhere I use my newish 5G Xiaomi and smartphone.
Of course free is best having the 3 frequencies on most installations.
Do try the free 3G/4G/5G map to see what is available chez-vous.

On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Frankly if you live in the countryside then free is the only ISP to consider.
1) Orange, Bouygues and SFR are unlikely to have a 5G service.
2) IF any of the above DO have 5G NSA then it will be on the 2100 mhz frequency which has poor range.
3) free do 5G NSA on NR28 700 mhz which has the best range/distance. Lower frequency bigger distance.
4) For 4G free will have THREE frequencies transmitting. The other three vagabonds only on 800 mhz.
Most 4G routers and phones have CA (channel aggregation) allowing aggregation of data, greater bandwidth.
Always select a phone with ALL euro frequencies, particularly 4G and 5G bands.

So the answer would be to sign up for Free in the hopes that their nearest 5g tower will serve me even if it is in the next departement many km distant. Oh, and I would have to buy a new phone as well.
Nice life for some, innit.

And assuming the signal reaches . . .
The range of 5G depends on many factors; frequency is the most important of all. mmWave signals tend to have a range of only a couple of hundred meters whilst low band signals generally have a range of a couple of kilometers.

We're on Free & live within 500m of a mast with no obstructions between us & it yet my last 3 & 4G phone would not connect unless I went outside to the front of the house.
A pal turned up with his Huawei phone & got a great signal in our kitchen which at the rear of the house is furthemost from the mast.
I changed to a Huawei & Bob's yer uncle. Great signal everywhere.
Maybe worth trying another phone/provider?
