Beautiful girlie dogs BlazeBlaze wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 9:33 pm Our two Aussie Shepherds are getting on in years : Bimbo, the black one, is 15 1/2 and Sweep will be 14 at the beginning of March. They are both amazingly full of energy, particularly around meal times, but love their walks on the beach.
I took this photo on New Years' Day .....

I know you have moved since living in France, but everyday as I walk round my garden with the dog bucket (
) I say a few words at each of the 6 graves.
Not everyday, but now and again, my current Beauceron, Jules, leaves a deposit at the side of my previous Beauceronne, Ramona. At first I was sad at a desecration but then came to fantasise that it might be a brotherly tribute.
So I smile. There is a space between her and Tosca. Just hope that that far ahead I can still operate a mini-digger.

We left two collies and a cat at our old place, in a nice little glade where they're unlikely to be disturbed. I used to speak to them too when I cut the grass around them. It's not going to be easy when the girls go but we've decided on the area and we'll plant shrubs over them ....

That's one of the reasons I don't think we'll have any more doggies, after losing my 16 yr old collie a few years ago I was devastated and I still get upset thinking about her now.
Those are two very beautiful and happy looking dogs Blaze
it must take forever to brush those thick cuddly coats of theirs.

Bimbo has always hated being brushed, just as she's always hated water ! Sweep's not really a water dog either though since living by the sea, they enjoy rock pools. So different to the collies ...
I couldn't imagine living without a dog, the place would seem so dead to us and I can't bear the thought of the emptiness ours will leave behind them one day. When the dreaded time comes, we'd like to take 1 or 2 adult dogs as they're harder to home than puppies.
It's the sad fact of owning a pet : it's for such a short time, as if they are just loaned to us ...
