@Blaze aaah beautiful cos it says dark days are on the way out and looking forward to a glass of wine in the garden which we managed on Monday - it was a beautiful warm sunny day. Yesterday & today misty & cold. Just noticed that my Pilgrim climbing rose has got quite a few buds! If what happens last year ie -15 for a couple of days in March comes around again this year then the buds will be gone as was two of my old and very large choisyas last year

@Sparkle You live in the department next to ours but we don't get anything like the extremes you do (thank goodness  ) We do however get a lot of wind and when it comes from the north-east, it's relentless. It's very sad when plants are nipped in the bud by a frost :(

Walking back to my car from football at Carrow Road last night a hedgehog trundled across the footpath just in front of me.

Unfortunately our little village is high up situated in the midst of open fields - we call our place windy corner! The wind rips through and anything not secured is a gonner! For the last two years during summer we've had gale force winds that have taken the virginia creeper totally off the wall which is such a shame as it covers a blank wall from ground to roof - three storeys. We cut it back on both occasions and it grows back up but we now keep it at a level where the loppers and a ladder can keep it at that level

Sign of spring - well the ground has thawed enough for me to lift the last of the carrots and parsnips. Not sure if that counts though.
