Thich Nhat Hanh RIP

#1 Post by Char »

I don't expect many of you know who he is or should I say who he was but for those who do Thay died yesterday he'd gone home to Vietnam.
He was a Buddhist monk and peace activist and founded Plum Village near Bordeaux.
I'd been meaning for years to visit there and meet him because I've read a lot of his books, but that's what happens if you put off what you should do today until tomorrow, it never happens.

I have procrastinated in a like manner more often than I care to think about .. and then, like you, found that I had left things and it was too late.

Oh that is so sad . I first came across Thich Nhat Hanh when I did a course on the 5 major religions of the world in around 1988. That course led me into Buddhism which eventually took me to Daoism. At a time when I needed to find some peace I came across his book The Long Road Turns To Joy - walking meditation followed by Being Peace which totally changed my way of thinking. I also have his book Fragrant Palm Leaves and have read that several times. A wonderful being that will be greatly missed.
With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride
