I love photos of cemetaries and have spent hours wandering around them in the UK especially Kensal Green Cemetary. Fascinating places :D

The cemeteries in my photos are interesting as they are at the roadside near small villages and individual properties without a church in sight. It turns out that they were for Protestant families.

Thanks DominicBest, you saved me asking about them. I was surprised to see grass, all the grave yards that I've been to around these parts are concrete so it's interesting to know that Protestant's were buried in a separate place.

Once such nice trees. Why are they doing this? To be chopped into small pieces for pellet burners, export product for the PRC and then returned to sender in the form of throw away IKEA type furniture?

I doubt it. That looks like hardwood and will be being used primarily as timber for flooring and furniture. The dross will end up chipped or pelletised but that is good materials management.

To me, it looks like none of this timber is of much use. I see Acacia and oak and all have the start of rot in the centre. They are old and would be a danger to other trees as they die off and are left as standing dead. Cutting them down is the wisest choice. I have always said, the most dangerous thing you can find in a forest are the trees.
