I cannot help feeling that all these sanctions are not going to work with Putin.

To my mind, we need to find a way for him to save face whilst withdrawing his troops and ending the destruction. He will not want in any way to be seen to lose - even if that means extra bloodshed.

For me, this will result in Ukraine (and others) being neutral, buffer countries. No one "wins" - but no one loses.

Macron seems to get this and has an opportunity to save the world, as well as cementing his re-election - as I do not see BoJo or Sleepy Joe being capable of dialling down their rhetoric.

Watching Miss Truss-t on morning politics. Could she sound any more insincere? When asked why it's taking so long to investigate the oligarchs, now being delayed by London lawyers, I can't help thinking they're unwilling to bite the hand that feeds!

She did admit that costs of living are going to get worse (for the common person), but of course that won't touch the likes of her, as they just claim for all their expenses anyway.

As for the Ukraine refugee crisis, there are already lots of groups welcoming Ukraines, and their animals. Stories of trucks, groups of people, getting people and animals safely rehomed. Countries taking in refugees without the need for papers, just to get them to safety. Then we have this.

Whilst it is fun to poke fun at Boris with memes there is a very serious underlying issue - namely a disgraceful (and now deleted) tweet by Kevin Foster suggesting Ukrainians wanting to escape the war and come to the UK apply for a visa as a seasonal worker picking fruit and vegetables.

She appeared equally evasive on the subject when questioned on LBC radio this morning.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

As an add-on to the Mistrust interview (she seems to fit that adjective well!), she said they were "urgently looking at the refugee situation". Urgently looking at? Other countries are already going out of their way to get refugees to safety, and the UK Govt are "urgently looking at". How does that look I wonder?

As to the tweet about, let them come as UK needs the labour. Absolutely disgusting.

I thought they were going to get the pensioners and prisoners to do those jobs?

Making jokes about horrific WW2 atrocities is not appropriate.

Not wishing to put words into Wilbro's mouth, but I did not take it as a joke but a serious reflection of how a 20th Century atrocity was in its way being implemented in the 21st Century by a civilised country - namely the forced labour, not the genocide.
