As an additional issue, Russia and Belarus are also fertiliser exporters. This will stop with sanctions. Needless to say, crop yields will be lower without the fertiliser - exacerbating the above problems.niemeyjt wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 3:05 pmIndeed - but the EU and France is not why I am concerned. If wheat doubles and bread goes up 10% then many/most Europeans can afford to pay the extra - albeit with a few moans and groans.

With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

Being a Russian general. One of the most dangerous occupations in the world. Does not include deaths in Ukraine.

Many Russians are totally against war with Ukraine or neighbouring countries but risk prison or even death if they speak out. Who can blame those who can afford to from leaving (at least Putin hasn't stopped people from leaving the country yet). It's likely that those leaving will not be able to return while the present dictatorship/totalitarian state is in power and sadly they face being treated as if they condoned his actions.

It seems to be the more educated and those with the financial means who are the first to leave, as we've seen in Ukraine and now Russia. But they will have left their assets, their families, their lives behind them, not knowing when or if they can ever return. Putin's war with Ukraine is not just destroying Ukrainian lives, but also Russian lives, albeit in a different way. The Russian families left behind could suffer from reprisals. We cannot judge a nation by its corrupt leader.

I see that Qanon conspiraloons are now claiming that the SARS-Cov-2 virus originated in Ukraine, not China. It’s amazing the intellectual contortions some people will undergo to support Kremlin propaganda.

The world has seriously gone mad - I think I'm going to become a hermit and live in a cave somewhere.ExMontpelliérain wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 6:56 pm I see that Qanon conspiraloons are now claiming that the SARS-Cov-2 virus originated in Ukraine, not China.
