Looking forward to seeing your next project Mysty. :D

We've got a huge fireplace in the part of the house that isn't habitable yet. One of the main stones on the back of the fireplace is an old grave stone. :|

There was a bread oven at some stage, but it looks like it was removed so that they could build a garage, which is a shame.

One of our jobs when I've eaten lots of shredded wheat, is to lift a new beam up to check that the mortise that OH has done matches up with the existing tenon. I do find it amazing that no nails were used when these old places were built. But getting the old wooden pegs out of the joints isn't the easiest job in the world, they seem to merge into and become part of the pieces of wood that they're pegging together - which is probably the whole point of them.

Do I gather that you can buy Shredded Wheat locally Char? Biggles has had to switch from that to Weetabix (which he'd rather not) because I've been unable to buy Shredded Wheat since my monthly delivery from the UK stopped.

PS Apologies for the massive thread drift.

Sorry Veem,
I was using it as a metaphor for building up my strength - I can't eat gluten, but I think they might sell them in the intermarché I know they do weetabix and shreddies because I used to buy them for my daughter. I'll have a look next time I go shopping and let you know.

Oh goodness - I hadn't thought of that, it was creepy enough as it was, now I'll probably have nightmares. ;)

We used to hate them as kids, like eating bales of straw.

Veem, I was in the Intermarché, Confolens today - they had Shredded Wheat! :D
Top shelf in the English food section, I think they were about 4 euros.

Apologies again for the thread drift - but obviously Biggles getting his shredded wheat must take priority over a burnt building!
