This was eyebrow raising :
"Russia did everything possible to save the West in the 20th century. It implemented the main Western project that constituted an alternative to capitalism, which defeated the nation-states — the Socialist red project. It crushed German Nazism, a monstrous offspring of the crisis of Western civilization. The last act of Russian altruism was its outstretched hand of friendship, for which it received a monstrous blow in the 1990s."

Good grief. After wading through a small fraction of that link there is no more question in my mind why so many ordinary Russian people refuse to believe the truth, or even have the slightest understanding of life outside Russia's borders. Complete and utter brainwash. We thought Hitler's ideas were those of a maniac but the author of this mantra is beyond sick.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Why do the UN Security Council demand 100% to pass anything? It's the same with the EU. Srely a majority of say 80% plus is sufficient. What with the likelyhood of Russia and Hungary using vetoes to block resolutions it's ridiculous. In Russia's case it would be like letting an accused murderer come out of the dock and join the jury to decide on the verdict. :crazy:

It is only the 5 permanent members of the security council that can veto proposals but that includes Russia (but not Hungary).

It is however a good question but on the other hand would we be happy with a simple majority?

A more fundamental question might be whether Russia deserves the right to remain as a permanent member which were initially the prime winning nations in WW2. The UN has gone into emergency special session (which happens when the security council are unable to reach that unanimous position) on 11 occasions since the UN's inception. Three of those 11 have involved the USSR/Russia. One has involved the UK and France. China and the USA have never been directly involved in emergency special sessions as a culprit.

@exile
I take your point about the Security Council and 80% is 4 out of 5. Could still apply but they should be kicked out anyway as unfit to be members.

"If I was given the possibility of shooting Putin, I would do it," she replies. "My hand would not shake." The voice of a mother who saw her daughter a second after the Russians blew her head off. Putin and his supporters are absolute scum. The woman is quite right especially when a rocket case was found near the station where 50+ people were killed with "For the children" painted on it's side. This isn't expected from a so-called civilised nation.

I think there's a massive queue for taking the life of this vile creature - I just wish there was some way we could hurry it up.

Where did you read or hear that Wilbro? I heard the awful news on the BBC this morning but they censored the precise nature of the daughter's death.
And Baylief's cartoon is so apt.

It's on the front page of the BBC website captioned "My girl was shouting, hands shaking...then she was dead". The whole story is sickening.
