My Titre de Sejour

#1 Post by niemeyjt »

My Titre de Sejour has just arrived and it was not quite what I expected.

Do credit card style French CdS have a chip in?

Mine doesn't so I guess there is an RFID loop like a passport with my fingerprints.

It also has three lines of computer readable text on the back - which I hope will speed up my trips through French Passport checks. Is that on French cards?

Mine has a chip plus a load of gobbledegook code on the back, plus address. On the front is a foto of Mr Beautiful plus details and signature.

Niemeyjt, does this mean you have a criminal past, are an illegal or that the French dont really want you?🙀

Probably all three - but they let me in anyhow - en route to Switzerland.

Mine definitely has a chip on it, I guess it’s the biometrics and lots of other stuff. It’s the only thing the Border guys are interested in, it’s a quick scan and wave.

Chip on mine as well. Is it perhaps that your card is not permanent?

niemeyjt: is you TdS French or Swiss?

My French 10 year TdS has a chip on the LHS of the back including a picture of Marianne on it.

The Attestation de Remise which came with the TdS attached includes the following note:
Le titre qui vient de vous être remis comporte un composant électronique contenant les données nominatives suivantes vous concernant ainsi que l'image numérisée de votre photographie et de vos empreintes digitales :
(1) Nom - (2) Nom d'usage - (3) Prénoms - (4) Date d'expiration -
(5) Date et Autorité de délivrance - (6) Catégorie du titre -
(7) Observations - (8) Date et lieu de naissance - (9) Sexe -
(10) Nationalité (Code pays) - (11) Adresse - (12) Empreintes

There is then the list of contents of those numbered items.
In my case
(6) ) CARTE DE SEJOUR PERMANENT- ARTICLE 50 TUE
(7) is ARTICLE 18(1) ACCORD DE RETRAIT DU ROYAUME-UNI DE L'UE - SEjOUR PERMANENT TOUTES ACTIVITES PROFESSIONNELLES
(12) Empreinte N°1 : Index gauche - Empreinte N°2 : Majeur droit
The fingerprints are for just two fingers (selected for the quality from the all fingerprint scans?)

The French cards have the three lines of computer-readable text (similar to passports). The first line includes the two card identifiers and the second line starts with date of birth-YYMMDD sex(M or F) date of expiry-YYMMDD

Swiss - but it is what the French look at when I enter Schengen - so I assume there is some consistency.

I had to give only index finger prints - so I guess they are stored somewhere.

It is an EU standard format so I would assume the Swiss would use the same or similar?
