@ajm We've only got the terrestrial channels, no paying or satellite ones. No doubt it will appear on Youtube at some point.

What stood out was, yes, little George looked right peeved to be there. Lee Mack was an instant improvement - with his quick witted jokes (the partygate one got a particularly good reception! ) The stand out music for me, surprisingly enough, was Diana Ross at the end. I wasn't expecting such a good performance from her - and her "Thank you" track was lovely (starts at about 4 minutes in on the clip below).

Otherwise, as to be expected - many I'd never heard of, but they have to appeal to all ages.

The lighting on the Palace was amazing, and the drone (?) display above was mesmerising. Overall, a better evening than we expected! (Oh, and Stephen Fry's comment about how many PMs Ma'am has had to endure also went down very well - funny that!)
I guess you didn't notice that for the first few minutes of her first song her radio mike wasn't functioning up to the correct volume. Considering how professionally slick and competent the whole event was conducted it took ages for someone to notice and set up a stand mike for her that was working properly.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

I think if the queen had been in attendance she would have slept through it all, as said undoubtedly she would not know who most of the acts were, Dianna Ross seemed to be miming, as a few of the others were, and the quick shots to the royal box with them all enthusiastically waving their flags reminded me of spitting image. I though Craig David was really bad, everything seems to incorporate the inevitable "rap" these days.

I flipped between watching New Tricks and The Party as there were some music performances I just didn't like - a bit excrutiating for me and I was looking forward to Diana Ross - sound was terrible and spoilt it a little. I did think the Paddington sandwich sketch very amusing - Her Maj can pull it out of the bag at do's (not usually a sandwich I hope? :D )

@Blaze in case you haven't seen it.

I thought Queen, Andrea Bocelli and Diversity were well worth watching. Elton was OK but Rod Stewart (oh you're so not made for the sexy bit any more) and Diana Ross were disappointing. I hated the musicals (Andrew LW's introduction especially) and had never heard of Mabel, Sigala, Ella Eyre, Celeste, Mimi Webb or Jax Jones. I think none of those is over 30, so would the Queen be likely to know them? Craig's set I found monotonous (like most rap) and Duran Duran and Elbow uninspiring.

In the royal box, George looked bored, Kate and Camilla gave 'flag waving out of time with the music' a new look and Louise appeared to be uncomfortable just being there. All in all, I should imagine the Queen was not disappointed to have spent the evening at home.

I wonder who decided which artists to invite? I know Charles used to invite Diana Ross to anything he could, but with a few exceptions, most of the rest wouldn't seem to me to be ideal entertainers for the Queen. .................?
