Buying Mower blades from Amazon USA

#1 Post by Headers »

Our mower is US manufactured. I needed some new blades. To get them in France would have cost me about 100 euros.
I searched Amazon and found 3 blades from a firm based in Southern Ireland for €45 (no tax).
I tried to contact them but they don’t have the 3 blades available on their website.
So, I took a chance and ordered on Amazon.com. Its taken nearly a month but they arrived today with a sticker saying that they didn’t conform with EU articles 28 & 29, but no demand for any payment.
I’m not sure if I’ll get a bill later, but even if I do, it’s still cheaper than buying them here.

Presumably you mean no demand for duty/tax as you must have paid for the items when you ordered on Amazon?

I paid no tax or duty on the purchase on Amazon USA. It clearly states on the transaction that any local taxes have not been included in the price charged. I didn’t pay for the delivery separately either!

Bit late now, but it might be worth having a look at https://www.autoportee-discount.fr/ in case you need anything else.

That link is a good 'un. Huge inventory and very competitive prices. All you need is your manufacturer's part number and you're sorted.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

thankyou. I have looked at the site and they have the blades that I need, but the Amazon route was still cheaper!.
I will bear it in mind though as it is probably a lot quicker!
