Sorry for the delay in replying. Other things on my mind right now. The reason I asked is that the AXA office in Bauge no longer have a dedicated English speaker to look after the Brit clientele so communication will be poor unless your friend speaks fluent French. The owner and his wife speak English but they are less likely to make initial contact if something is going wrong.

I spoke with Anne on his behalf, she speaks English OK, I don't think it was very professional of Axa or possibly the Bauge office not to contact him and tell him his prelevement had failed for some reason. That is if I am getting the full story, I knew Fiona had suddenly departed, I did e mail her but she never replied, can't say as I blame her

Yes Fiona did leave suddenly and no doubt the true reason will never be known although I have my suspicions. She was a good hearted woman with a lot on her plate. I have no problem with the Bauge office personally but then I speak French and I am also quite assertive. It is worrying what has happened to your friend but who knows what the full story is. Hope he's sorted his insurance out for the future.

We lived near Mouliherne for 18 years and never had any problems. We had a long drive up to the house and always kept the metal farm gate at the bottom closed which may have deterred people. As far as we know, no-one else in the area was burgled except for one, a house on a small crossroads nearby which was broken into several times during the time that the owners lived in Paris. Once they moved in permanently, put up fencing etc, the problem went away. The place was never trashed, just stuff stolen. It seems holiday homes are more at risk ...

Think it's got worse since you escaped Blaze, as for AXA Bauge, sometimes I wonder about the efficiency of the office, and I have to say especially with the English liaison officer, or whatever the past two have called themselves, but that might have been down to the management overruling them.
