There are several similar mass memorials near former camps around this part of the world, as well as lonely ones remembering one or two people, in desolate corners just outside villages, where men were pitilessly dispatched for upsetting the occupiers.
One near us remembers a policeman who tried to recover his stolen bicycle.

Not in France this time, in a city with high-rise buildings under construction and a high-rise passenger ship, impressive. The Queen Victoria approaching the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam.
