Brive is a much bigger and active place than you may realise with a lot of facilities and one of the best markets in France but easy to walk around with a lot to interest you.

I try to compare the above comments to the ones for Avignon (since I know Avignon). Obviously, all have to be taken with a grain of salt, so to speak, but the ones here about Avignon feel very accurate to me.

I couldn't live in Avignon with that wind that cuts you in two!
Check out the medical services in Brive - it used to be that they relied heavily on support from Limoges and the more serious cases were transported to the latter.

Yes, the ratio of doctors 1 to every 76 habitents is similar in ratio to Avignon (1 to every 78), Pau (1 to every 77) and Limoges (1 to every 78). Some reviewers said that there were long delays for medical appointments in Brive. That can be said here in the Vaucluse also.

Serious medical urgences are often airlifted to Marseille from round here.
