And as weedkiller.

But back to OP - if itching days later then it cannot be the poison per se, as treated by vinegar/baking soda, but more an allergic type reaction - so maybe anti-histamine will reduce itching - try a hay fever tablet perhaps if there is a next time?

Strange as recently I was hacking through a wisteria which has gone mad, in the evening I noticed a raised itchy area of skin on my stomach and the next morning there were a few more areas the same, I had an antihistamine and it seemed to calm down a bit, evidently after the event you are supposed to wear gloves when cutting wisteria. As an aside my shin area on both legs has been giving me some stick of late, you feel like you could keep scratching them for ever, I put it down to diabetes, anyone else suffer from this?

I didn't know that but then I am far more careful these days about wearing gloves and washing my hands after touching any plant. It was never a problem when I was younger, but perhaps our resistance changes as we get older ?

There are many plants that can give you a rash and the one I learnt about more recently was euphorbia : the sap can cause rashes and extreme irritation to the eyes, even blindness if not attended to immediately. There's also a small "weed" called Euphorbia peplus or Cancer weed that can also cause irritation if you pick it with bare hands then touch your face. Again, beware rubbing your eyes ....

The bigger version grows in many gardens because it's pretty to look at ...

Oh yes! Euphorbia is well-known as an irritant. I only learned that in my early 30s when handling and planting it. I have several in the current garden but I'm verrry careful.

Fig trees can also cause a reaction, both leaves and sap.
@Hughnique, the shin is an unusual target for aoûtats but I got them on the back of the calf this year, so not impossible. Are there any red, raised bumps or weals? It might be worth getting a pharmacien/ne to have a look?
