Contact list for the person left behind
A long time back someone wrote possibly on another forum a list of all the things needed to do and all the companies to contact after someone has died. I did keep a copy but can't find it so I'm asking if the person who produced it still has a copy and could post it again. I feel sure that the person who put it together is on this forum? - I should add it's not for me - well not yet hopefully, it's for a friend that may be in need very shortly

LCL bank do a booklet - that was good.
I will see what else I can find
First - if it is imminent - is there a will?

Thanks for that - I believe there is a will.

Judging by the number of downloads my list produced, I hope you're not all feeling unwell.
I would like to add that my list is developed from advice that someone else posted on a forum a long time ago, so not all my own work. I wish I had noted that person to pass on some of the credit, so if you read this, please own up and take a bow.

I was checking it against my own check list and there are a couple of points regarding timings that I did not know - so thanks for that.
It talks about a lawyer sorting inheritance but I thought the notaire would do that.
I would add to the list (and not a legal requirement so not included in yours) cancel subscriptions - magazines, societies etc. I could imagine it being distressing if a couple of months after a death, a notification of the AGM or a quarterly magazine drops through the letter box for the deceased.

I will add comments shortly - but maybe there ought to be a section "before death" - and in addition to the above will I would add another hobby horse of mine - make sure all passwords are recorded - especially those that cannot be reset easily such as zip files and hard disks.
and to add, if someone completes the paperwork, make sure people know where it is when needed - i.e not only in electronic form on an inaccessible PC

I know the Uk is different but when my OH died, nearly 2 years ago, my solicitor told me to inform ALL insurance companies within 2 weeks or the policies would be invalidated.
It is there in the smallest of small print in the insurance documents but I hadn't read it.

The will issue is less important in France than in the UK. I did our English wills a few years ago but I must get them translated into French by a colleague.
I haven't had time to do more than skim through the PDF so far, but I will read it more thoroughly soon (if clients stop pestering me).
