Cleaning glass hobs?
What do you use? First time we have used one and Iam impressed with it, but cleaning it is not as simple as I thought, did the warm sponge with some "Fairy" on it, cleaned it done a few times still streaky
tried a window cleaner, better but not good enough
tried something made for glass hobs, not much better. Last night I wondered what had happened to "Windolene",found out this morning its still being made
then I remembered I have some "T cut" coloured car polish in the garage, it happens to be black, so a little bit on some kitchen towel rubbed it in, left a few mins to dry, polished it off, like brand new
a success.

Best one we found is bought from Leroy Merlin, it's a stairwax product for cleaning these type of hobs.

I dont understand why you need a Stanley blade? unless you have a gas one, if so Iam sorry my question was meant for ceramic and induction hobs, I understand that on induction that its only the pan that gets hot so no burning of splashed food out of the pan, the glass under the pan does get warm and at least with my hob "Smeg Dual Fuel" that it tells you after you switch it off that it is hot.

When you crack open an egg trying to get most of it into the frying pan on the ceramic hob and it runs onto the said surface the blade removes it quickly and easily.

When I bought a glass hob in the UK there was a cleaning kit in the box. It included a thing similar to a Stanley blade with a handle.

Re: Cleaning glass hobs?
We've had our induction hob a good few years now and have tried several ways to clean it. I started with Vitroclen which is especially for induction hobs and polished that off with paper towel. After a while, there was still a build-up which wasn't easy to remove completely. Then a soft dishcloth with hot water and washing up liquid, which seemed to leave smears. Now I use any of the kitchen spray cleaners - currently Mr Muscle - and have gone back to a rub and polish with paper towel. The hob may not look brand new but it's OK for me.

Re: Cleaning glass hobs?
Back when I was mucking out gites for some spare cash one place had a glass hob. It was always left in a mess, as if the guests hadn't bothered using pans at all. The owners provided all sorts of expensive potions for me to use. None of them worked. The Stanley knife blade always did.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Tried the vinegar but left streaks, I crack my eggs over the pan with a knife, I don't do the silly chef type were you crack them over the rim, as you have found out it leaves a mess, chef don't clean up their own mess, the leccy does it
I know I have worked in a few kitchens
and never sent a steak back
