Random math question about electricity usage!

Much quicker heating a wet cup - so I guess that's quicker and cheaper than the kettle. Which was my initial question! It's only because the cups are colder now, as we head into winter.

Does the coffee machine not deliver hot coffee then??

It's an espresso machine, so not, not scorching hot - especially for making a mug of coffee.

Unfortunately, most of these coffee machines turn out to be total crap, we currently have a Tassimo which is not too bad, but the price of the capsules is exorbitant, and in the several years of ownership, possibly 2 or 3 nice drinks, that now seem to have been deleted. Did get a De'Longhi expresso in John Lewis, that lasted a couple of weeks, and gave up the ghost, turned out to be a faulty mains lead, with a dodgy moulded plug, so cut that off and stuck a French one on, but still not a good cuppa. Decided to return it for a refund on next trip, but the plug, drilled out the old one, where the flex enters the plug, and superglued the cable back in, so in all intents it looked like it should. Had a panic moment when the sales assistant wanted to plug it in, I persuaded her not too as it might blow your fuseboard up luv. Only one I did find pleasant was a De'Longhi, bean to coffee one but at what price, jar of Nescafe, much cheaper.

Would it not be easier to warm the cup under the hot tap just use a small amount of water and rinse it round

By the time the water is hot enough, that seems a waste of water (and heating).

So you tried wetting the cup and it is hot after 30 seconds in the microwave? It seems Mr B has a minute of his life back and you now have saved 0.015 unit of electricity as well!

Try a Philips Senseo machine.
I'm a tea man m'self but the missus loves her coffee & swears by this machine.
Apparently coffee bags are available everywhere with various 'flavours' & are very reasonably priced.

We've got a Krups Nespresso machine and can't fault it. The capsules cost more than a spoonful of Nescafe, but as we only drink one or two a day, it's worth every penny. We've never had a bad cup which is more than i can say for some of the other machines. But that's a question of personal taste and preference.
