RIP Burt Bacharach
We went to the same high school and became friends when her best friend wanted to join our band. When we heard she was an ace drummer we jumped at the chance to have them both on board. Sadly her friend was rubbish on bass and Richard didn't approve of Karen moonlighting with our band. He had ambitious plans of his own. I ended up marrying the bass player and we both sat in the mixing studio at A&M while they recorded a few wa wa's and did the final mix on Close to You. After listening to it so many dozens of times while they made minute adjustments it is permantly engraved in my head. After her tragic death I can't bear to listen to her music now, it saddens me deeply.L Austin France wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 6:54 pmWow!
Friends with Karen Carpenter.
Respect.
Loved her voice & still do.
Tragically taken at such a young age.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.
