Each year the Maison des Vins for the Cadillac Cotes de Bordeaux Appellation organise a Portes Ouvertes and a magnificent rally of voitures anciennes. Unfortunately it was cancelled last year and this year but, fingers crossed, should be held again next year. Here are some pictures from previous years.

What to do on a perfect Sunday afternoon? Touring. I saw the garage where I spotted these two Morgans last year. An immense garage, doors open. Almost enough space for a Halifax bomber, many classic cars and as clean as an operating room, an incredible amount of tools, machinery and manuals. The owner of this all gave me a guided tour. A guy who doesn't need a laptop and an OBD-scanner to diagnose what's wrong: eyes, ears and hands-on experience. Under reconstruction and redesign his Morgan three-wheeler:

Because the gearbox of the original Morgan three-wheeler didn't have a reverse he was fitting his own personal solution. He is not the only one bringing this three-wheeler into the 21st century.

Does that mean then, RobertArthur, that they could be driven on a motor bike licence then, having no reverse, that is?

@ Spardo, I'm not a Morgan expert and not someone who knows everything about the regulations applicable in 1911 when the first three-wheelers left the assembly line (workshop?). Actually, I don't know anything about them. So I suppose a bike licence was enough in those days. More about the UK regs of today here. And of course an update of the French regulations.

RobertArthur Much later than that I think, I'm trying to think of another car that had 3 wheels and no reverse, or at least reverse blocked to avoid having a full driving licence. Not our Piaggio Ape of course, that has 3 reverse gears.

Would that have been the reliant Regal - which was the predecessor of the reliant robin?

The Isetta was one. I had a couple before I passed my test. Had the pleasure of rolling it over. It came back on its wheels, fortunately.

Hi curtis we were in a Green Renalt Scenic dci but l don't think that's what interests you. We were some of the thousand or so members of the non-voitures anciennes owning public looking at the cars and, of course, tasting the wonderful wine of Cadillac Cotes de Bordeaux, l don't own one of the vineyards but that doesn't stop us enjoying the wine :D :D :D
