Thanks once again Char.
Its a long complicated process but well worth it if you have really settled and integrated here.
Also one can vote.

As you've been through the process Doug - you'll be able to answer any questions people may have. 8-)

Be delighted to, by pm if nec.
It took us four years, all of the paperwork weighed 500 gms for both when we posted to Bordeaux not that I'd like to put anyone off, the interview was a cinch.
We were on holiday in a gite in Charente-Maritine when the email came through on a mobile that we'd succeeded , the owners must have thought us mad as we were hugging and dancing around like mad.

It's worth remembering that if you get French citizenship, you still keep your British nationality as well, unless you positively give it up. But that's a different process.

If you want to give up your British Nationality it'll cost you about £400.00 per person.

When our uk passports run out next year we will have our French ones for trips abroad, only need our French id cards for the EU.
But we will need a visa to visit our nation of birth.

Before giving up your British passports, have you checked the cost of a visa to visit the UK from France, Doug ? (on a non-British passport)
https://visa-fees.homeoffice.gov.uk/y/f ... ernsey/all

Standard Visitor visa - for UK, Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey
Visa types Visa application fee (EUR)
Short-term (up to 6 months, single or multiple entry) 115

I'm surprised it took 4 years as mine was done in 13 months.

Thats Nouvelle Aqitaine, the woman who interviewed us in Bordeaux said that they were at that time inundated with applicants and had been interviewing English for over a year, expect its calmed down now.
