What's for Dinner?

Veem wrote: Fri Apr 21, 2023 3:57 pm I am cooking nothing for tonight's dinner. I am totally sick of cooking. It looks like being a reasonably pleasant evening, so we've booked a table at Confolens' chippy for the first time since last autumn. Really looking forward to a wonderful piece of battered haddock with chips with salt added and generously doused in vinegar. With a glass of something dry and white.
Ah! fish & chips. Haven't had that since my last trip to the UK pre covid times. Wish we had a chippy around here.
The nearest we'll have to a fish restaurant is a sushi place which will soon open and replaces a Vietnamese take away/ resto which was OK.
Not sure if the local's palates are up to that sort of thing. Mind you, if they'll eat Andouillette they'll probably eat anything.

Very little. Burnt the inside of my cheek, badly, when tasting something direct from a hot frying pan a couple of days ago. It's difficult to eat, even to talk. Still, my own fault and I could do with losing few kgs.

I'm still home alone until later this evening so eagerly anticipating my last célibataire meal which will consist of a cold slice of cooked belly pork recued from the freezer now defrosting whilst I & a glass of single malt consider if I can be arsed to find anything to go with it.

So easily done and hurts dreadfully! Hope it heals over soon.

A stir-fry, always tasty and quick.

We had fresh local green asparagus for lunch, just boiled, drained and served with lots of butter and tasty bread.
This evening was toad in the hole, gravy (out of the freezer from a pork roast), cauliflower, carrots and Colmans mustard freshly made of course with mustard powder and cold water.
We are replete. A bit of batter left over which the mutts will enjoy with their brekkie, and a chipolata which they won't.
How do people live without at least one dog in the house?

I had Kitcheri.
Husband had baked potato with cauliflower cheese.
G/d had chipolatas and mashed potato and now the house stinks. I think I'll get a barbecue so I can cook these outside in the future.
Daughter had scrambled eggs on toast.

And none of the family understand why I'm sick to death of cooking.

Oh my, did one person have to cook all those different dishes?? I'd not be happy about that.

We're having haricot coco plats with saucisse de volaille and salad.
