Coronation

No, of course I won't be watching it! I shall also steer clear of the TV for a few days.

What I would like to know is: what will happen to the bolshie Brits who refuse to pledge allegiance? Is it a capital offence?

I'll tell you if I am still free next week - but probably limited to not being allowed to be an MP.

Any crook, misfit, or bully can be an MP.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

We will definitely be watching it, wouldn't miss it for the world ! I love the pomp, parades and music and no country does it as well as Britain.

But only if they swear allegiance to the Monarch - that is why there are no Sinn Fein MPs in HoC - they won't swear allegiance.

For QE2 we had Coronation Chicken.
KC has chosen a quiche but according to the French this is no Quiche but a tart.
So true to form Charles has chosen a tasty tart

Personally I was looking forward to watching the homage of the peers. I think it's a great mistake to get rid of it and expect 'the commoners' to swear allegiance instead. Perhaps a number of the ruling elite refused to take part ( Andy? Harry? ). Anyway, the oath doesn't apply to me. As a Channel Islander I don't have a king :D .

I expect I'll catch snippets of it, if the TV is on. The pledging allegiance by the peons might be quite entertaining! Other than that, I'm completely non-plussed about it all. Did watch a spoof of the Coronation on Sunday night "The Windsors"? on CH4 - Harry Enfield makes a very good Charles, and they made Camilla look like a hot, sassy chick! It was harsh, but often hilarious and hit home on all counts. Even the Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie were, erm, interesting!

Still, in times of crises and lack of money in people's pockets, strikes, unrest and hardship - distract them with pomp and ceremony for a while, a great show put on by the greatly rich (at taxpayers' expense?)

Of course it'll be paid for by the Bloggs family! The royals have deep pockets but short arms.

Well I shall be in London. I hope it doesn't rain.

I have lots of sanding to do - and it is much better done in the open air to reduce the dust.
