We pass this old disused Bus-Stop in Hure quite often but only looked closely at it recently. It has a lovely old public notice board that advertises classes for Hunting Permits. What is amazing is that the inscription date for the examination is the 20th January 1981.

On a doorhunt in Cadillac-sur-Garonne this week found this really ancient door, the oldest in the town apparently, which makes me think people were a lot smaller in the old days

Not my garden, not my private roadside, pictures of garden enemy #1, Japanese knotweed. Use a voltage of up to 5000 V, many amps, feed it with a genny, please don't forget your electrical insulated gloves and rubber boots, apply high voltage shock close to the knotweed, smoke gets in your eyes and nose, pull out with roots (as far as possible), repeat all these steps four times a year. And keep your fingers crossed because next year it will be back again, did it gain ground? Keeping it at bay is not easy.

Well I've never seen weed killing quiet like that, how interesting. We have that stuff all over the place round these parts - not in my garden I hasten to add. The farmers just either smother it with glyphosphate or keep cutting it down. It doesn't seem to spread so I suppose that's something.
