A balmy 26°C here with a light sea breeze. The house is beautifully cool, no need to shut the shutters. With windows open on the north and south side, there's lovely through draught ....
We've never regretted our move north ... but neither of us can stand the heat, one of the reasons which prompted our move.

If it was this hot every summer I'd probably move too Blaze,
It's still doesn't seem as hot as 2003 here, although the birds have gone very quiet and there are no insects to be seen, so who knows what tomorrow may bring.
I do sometimes wish I could afford clim - I might sleep out doors on the trampoline tonight.

After retiring from our business back in 2011 we moved west, not because it being very hot but the opposite.
On the Causse de Gramat in the Lot it often went down to minus 12c or 15c mid winter.
So we decided to move west, then came the further climate change.
Back in 2003 there was a heatwave which caused a lot of deaths, 42c for a week,
We had three gites and bnb then, got burnt to death hanging out all of the linen but the worst was trying to stop the brits sitting out by the pool in full sun, idiots.
The first memerable heatwave in my mind was back in 1976, uk water rationing etc.
Having just returned from a 3 month holiday down in Western Australia ( visiting familly)
We were very used to the heat though.

Yep summer 2003 my washing shrunk on the line - winter 2003/4 the diesel froze it was that cold around here and the farmers couldn't work for a while. 2003 was a very strange year weather wise.Doug wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 5:00 pm After retiring from our business back in 2011 we moved west, not because it being very hot but the opposite.

Yes it's hot - but where I am "only" 34C.
I know it's just my second summer in la belle France, but after 60+ years of disappointing/no UK summers I am prepared to put up with a bit of heat to have the amazing feeling of being warm, needing no jumpers etc etc for 3 months of the year.
