Livret d'épargne populaire (LEP) - for those on modest income

I've been sent a load of bumph from my Ass Social and thought some of it may be useful to others - more posts about the other things later maybe.

The Livret d'Epargne Populaire is a savings account regulated by the government, who sets the interest rate, which is set at 6% from 1 August 2023.
The total amount you can place in the savings account is €7,700, excluding the calculation of capitalised interest. This amount is going to be raised to €10,000 shortly.
Assuming you fall below the earnings threshold you can open one of these savings account with €30.

I'm going to open one for the money I put aside each month for the leccie, foncier and water bills a little bit of interest would be nice.

That's nice. We've got a Livret A which is 2% interest but didn't know about this one until recently. An extra 4% interest not to be sneezed at eh.

When we took out Livre A it was 4% but it goes up and down like a yoyo.
Also each have assurance a vie for long term investments, made on selling our business almost way back in last century, ( bloody hell I'm old, every one heave ooohhh ) had it so long now that there will be no tax on interest when we start to cash it in, like soon for works on the house as I'm past that sort of thing these days.

Livret A interest going up to a magnificent 3% acording to my missus.
Well, that's what she said when she transfered sterling to euros to top up our Livret A account.

For those whose Livret A is up to the limit, there is also an account called LDD with a limit of 12k. Same interest as Livret A and tax free.

How funny, I was just looking into this type of account for the first time yesterday. Finally having something to put aside, after the Estate of my late Dad has been settled. If all 4 members of the family can have an account, with that rate of interest maybe it'll give us an incentive to save it for as long as possible!

We got a text from the impots earlier this year saying we were eligible for an LEP so went into the bank and transferred some money into an LEP each.
