A quick update.

In the press today it is reported that John Lewis Financial Services has stopped insuring electric cars whilst they review the costs of repairs.

There seem to be a multitude of reasons why a pranged EV is a more expensive repair than an ICE vehicle - now it seems the insurers are taking note.

Unless they are going to load EV costs onto ICE premiums, this may be yet another reason why people will hang onto their ICE as long as possible.

Separately, yesterday it was reported that some UK Motorway Service Stations have appointed security marshalls at recharging stations following fights breaking out during 8-hour waits for a recharge.

I heard the tail end of a discussion on the radio about EV safety issues. They said there have already been 3 deaths in UK related to fire or explosions.
Admittedly that is a very small number but when Big (green) Brother forces everyone into EVs the number will rise. And then there is always the chance of a punchup at the recharge points. Oh, and I forgot. A shunt on the motorway could set off the bomb stored under your seat.
Progress.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Should they be banned from the Channel Tunnel and Ferries?

It's kinda scary trying to kip on the overnight ferry knowing that down below lie umpteen potentially unstoppable incendiary devices.

A While back while watching "Trucking Heavy" some EVs caught fire on the transporter, a big job the fire brigade, they had to escort each recovery vehicle back to the yard, where a shipping container had been quickly modified with plastic sheeting and filled with water, the remains of the EVs was dumped in there for a few days.

Can't remember where I saw it, but someone was talking about EVs, if everyone did change to Electrics, the Grid wouldn't cope!

Drawing the parallel with the shipping of dangerous goods*, then banned from the Tunnel - yes; banned from ferries - no.

* For example a tanker full of petrol or diesel.
I don`t know anyone loosing sleep over the possibility of that catching fire.
But more realistically a tanker full of a flammable and noxious liquid.
