The Citroën GS Birotor. built for just two years, and every owner was already kindly invited by Citroën to bring these cars to the guillotine. Not without a generous compensation. One of the few surviving ones was for sale in 2021. In Germany: respecting le patrimoine industriel français or that of Germany?

A look inside and under the bonnet, 26 pictures.

There’s one that turns up now and again at our local rassemblements.

This one was a big experiment by Chrysler USA that never made any money. 55 were built but never sold. They were loaned out to the general public for a few months assessment. I was lucky enough to get a ride in one in 1964. It idled at about 10,000rpm.

No. I read it on the tacho and the driver pointed it out. Google Chrysler Turbine Car for full info. Driving revs were much higher.

There is still a Citroën CX, the 2PR75, in showroom condition. Down-under, not in Australia or New Zealand, under the Élysée. The SM, the 3PR75 has left this garage

One of the two last SMs for sale in the UK, left-hand drive, was exported in 1975 to the Netherlands. After ten years the Dutch owner sold it to the chairman of the German SM club. He published a nice picture of this car, a special colour: BRUN ROQUEBRUNE Ac430.

Back to the French automobile industry, what about Simca? The 4-PR-75 of le Général. Sometimes in the company of real horse power. A special version of the DS (Chapon) also for Charles de Gaulle, special size.

The other presidential car, a DS 19 (5249-HU75), probably saved his life, the driver accelerated, even with a punctured tyre no problem because of the excellent suspension system. Narrow escape in le Petit-Clamart, August 1962. He already knew a thing or two about (sub)machine gun fire.

Interesting comment by De Gaulle when he stepped out of the car: Ils ne savent pas tirer.

The Citroen CX is interesting as the engine is the same one fitted into the Maserati Merak, a friend had one and for using the car to impress the fairer sex  I had to keep it in tune, with three twin choke Webers I didn't have time for the fairer sex, it went like split s*** until on one occasion at about 80Mph the bonnet flew open :o  it felt like a bomb had gone off, I needed clean underwear, well nearly, but we later found out that the dealer knew about this but didn't tell him, so they ended up sorting it out, the windscreen I seem to remember was £600 this was in the 70s.
