When we bought the wreck 18 years ago it had an 80 year old un felted, slated roof with rusty galvanised crochets which 'let go' of the slates in any blow over a breeze & blew a hooley in the attic through the gaps in the roof.
First thing in the morning it was impossible not to open the bedroom windows without looking down to see if any slates were on the deck & I got tired of ladder climbing to replace 'em.
Best money I've spent since living in France. Never look down these days & the smug feeling of peace & security when it's hissing down is something money can't buy.
Dunno what the same job would cost now but I'm betting a hell of a lot more than my investment.
