@ Hotrodder, carchitecture part II: California dreaming on a winter's day..... From the Flemish lifestyle journalist Thijs de Meulemeester another sunny picture, now with the Citroën SM. Out of the total production of 12.920 cars, only 2.037 were sold to the US and 396 in Canada. The rest mainly in Europe and there she is again, also to une Parisienne, composition in yellow, green and grey.

On a more serious note, for those who appreciate interesting cars both old and new, and are thinking that the "smart revolution" is a good thing you might want to watch this video.

I have read about elements of this kind of thing from many different sources in the last few years and am again reminded how I appreciate I won't live all that much longer to see the Dystopia that is coming ever closer.

@ Hotrodder, I would like to suggest to close the chapter, for the time being, about the V6 engine in the Citroën SM and start a new topic about EVs: hanging on by a string or a bright, sunny new eco future?

No problem with that, since EVs will be all we are allowed to drive a few years down the road. But keep this thread going for collectables and remarkable historic vehicles.

@ Hotrodder, message understood. Old enough to be classic cars. Bien étonné de les trouver ensemble à Amsterdam, facing each other. The famous Peugeot 504 (break), also known as Africa's workhorse (LA Times, 2013) and a still going strong Volvo Amazon station wagon.

That Peugeot 504 Break reminds me of another member of this French family, the 404 Familiale. Whatever happend to the station car? Less cubic meters than in a real van, of course, but for shopping, transporting construction materials, a removal aid, very useful. in other words: a functional multi-purpose vehicle. In the modern world form doesn't follow function I'm afraid, streamline everything, good looks and an incomprehensible infotainment system are more important. Lunchtime rant over.
Once again this picture of the 404 Familiale, now in the company of something bigger.

You make a good point about form following function. Which nitwit designer first decided to streamline an estate so it would no longer accept something tall and square? The Peugeot 406 break was the last one that could swallow a washing machine or a smallish fridge.
Volvo used to be ideal and sold big numbers of their estates but even theirs is rather less capacious these days.

@ Curtis, avoid it? Until the lights go out because one EV too much starts charging and blows three knife-blade fuses of 250 amps in an already overcharged grid..... ENEDIS, where are you?
