I ran across another Youtube about the big shortsighted disaster known as the electric car.

The unsold cars are not helped by the likes of Hertz who discovered the hard way that people don't want to rent EVs - so are flogging off a load of low mileage EVs.

@ Hotrodder, the destination of your holidays this year? Almost ten years ago several remarks in The Guardian.

Everybody on our little planet an electric car? Charging points everywhere? Unlimited electric power, always green? Scapegoating of fossil fuel cars? Worldwide consumerism and mass production of throw-away goods not to blame? Not to forget transport, the noisy Ocean autoroute and the big polluters there? Dreaming of a white Christmas and green fuels? The answer is blowing in the wind. far beyond my reach.

The "save the planet" brainwash doesn't even come into it when you read how extensive the financial incentives are in Norway. 3000 public charging stations, and 7753 fast chargers wouldn't cut it in UK and the government wouldn't stump up for all the other incentives on the list either.

RA. Your guardian article is very misleading (2009) container ships carry far more containers now and low sulphur fuels are the norm. This results in fewer voyages and cleaner exhausts.

PE, I must admit, I didn 't find a more up-to-date study, but to get some attention it served its purpose... From the seventies to about 2019 we've witnessed an enormous growth in sea freight transport, burning rather thick oil. As from 2020 new regulations. The point I was trying to make is that governments and also several NGOs turned an almost blind eye to the negative impact of maritime transport, concentrating their efforts on the automotive industry.

I think the blind eye is on the thousands of daily flights, maybe tens of thousands even. As for the marine industry, The International Maritime Organisation IMO along with MARPOL the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from ships, have their eye on pollution control.
