The Opel Diplomat came also with a Chevrolet V-8 engine. Luxury cars, their flagships, trying to compete with this Mercedes or a simple 115 series diesel and BMW.

After all those years, introduced in 1989, the Citroën XM still looks futuristic. A design of Nuccio Bertone. To quote him: "A car is the product of a feeling, or rather, a series of feelings”. Would my cradle have been in Italy, I would say: Che bella macchina, che bella linea.

In 1970 ("Let it be"), John Lennon, here in London, also bought this Mercedes saloon: a 600 Pullman, 6.24 metres long. A right-hand drive car. The price at the time was 19,000 pounds, which is equivalent to around 250,000 pounds (290,000 euros) today. Lennon as a musician, installed several extras: a Blaupunkt radio, a Philips Mignon record player and an expensive loudspeaker system. Take a seat...John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono used the limousine regularly. After the Beatles split up and moved to the USA he sold the car to George Harrison.
