Moving house?
We have double vantaux arched windows. We got a local menuisier to make up wooden frames that fit half the window. They lock in place using the window lock and the side of the window they are replacing. Easy to fit/unfit.

Moving house?
Did I say ‘moving house’? Well, we almost have! After four months in an Airbnb we’ve now spent nearly five months in ‘senior accommodation’ in central Pau a mere ten minute walk from the renovations. After a total of nine months gestation our baby is about to be handed over. The removal firm has been booked, the family is rallying round and I am planning on sitting at the centre of it all, observing.
We are very pleased we chose Pau. The people are very welcoming, the town is all we could wish for and the restaurants are great. Happy happy happy!

On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Moving house?
We moved into what I hope will be our “for ever” apartment at the beginning of May and I’m still finding things in unusual places. My lovely children unpacked everything, so now and then I have to send an emergency WhatsApp, like ‘Does anyone know where the sink plunger is, please?’
We have lovely neighbours who organised a welcome party for us and are always ready to help. Unfortunately there’s a downside. Mr Grangela had a stroke some time in the past few months, nothing dramatic, but the effects are getting worse. He has had several falls and really doesn’t fancy A&E again. We are hoping to get advice from the geriatrics assessment department at the local hospital with respect to mobility and safety.
Anyway, life goes on. We’ve seen the Olympic torch go by, heard la fête de la musique from very close by, walked across the square to vote, will see le Tour arrive and depart later in the week and, today, the view of the Pyrénées is superb.
Regards,
Grangela

It sounds as though you chose well for your new home, Grangela, Pau sounds excellent.
I was sorry to read about M. G’s health problems and, like Lori, hope that he’ll get good support and advice at his assessment.

Parts of Pau are undergoing massive development. Lots of 10 story building going up.
Probably a good place to be if one has serious medical issues.
