The DWP have acknowledged receipt of my State pension claim (only three weeks after it being sent..wow!). I can claim my S1 now, being within 90 days of the happy event :D Could anyone who has been in a similar situation confirm whether e-mail applications work, or is it better to phone? After all these years of living with the French aversion to e-mail, I hesitate to do it that way. Experiences please, pretty please?

In fact, question answered. If I apply now, I'll lose my cover as OH's dependent until August, so best to wait until just before I receive my pension. Ah well, it'll give me something to do up until Christmas, chasing the CPAM

RE: your reference to the French reluctance to embrace email,
We have had no luck convincing our dentist (or rather her receptionist) to correspond with us by email or text. Her speech over the phone is at breakneck speed and largely unintelligible so we have asked three times recently (in written French) to contact via email or text. One time was by written letter dropped on her desk. Flat refusal. WTF is their problem? France is a modern country, or so I have been led to believe.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

I'm on S1 but it was a while ago and I made a phone call and sent in completed forms. I don't think email was an option then.
It all happened very smoothly and so far there's never been a glitch.

Just classic French obstroperousness :D Personally, I'd make an appointment to see the dentist and explain why you need contact by visual means...perhaps she'll be more sympathetic and sort out her staff! Receptionists do seem to go out of their way to be awkward.

I didn't need to claim my S1 Quik......it was all part of the pension claim. After claiming by phone, I received an acknowledgment letter confirming my eligibility and somewhere in the text was a note that I would be contacted separately about the SI . I received it some weeks later without having to do anything.
