I did see François Hollande suggested......not a bad shout imho.

Quite. Particularly as EM had to open his mouth to say 'LFI over my dead body'. France is now ungovernable unless the 2 leading parties get (their acts) together.

Yup, a hung parliament so nothing will get done. FH would be infinitely preferable to JLM .... but what wonderful timing .... 18 days to the Olympics ....
Those in charge of security must be having sleepless nights.

An extra €100bn to €200bn to pay for the left's agenda if implemented in full (Citi bank) all paid for by taxing the rich and companies.

That should work - it's not as if they can relocate to avoid it.

I still wonder if the Green's agenda will get implemented - kicking off the GJ and farmers.

Strange. When I heard the news that Le Pen's lot was out I breathed a sigh of relief. Looking at the forum this morning it appears you lot are still finding things to moan about. I shall pop my head back into the sand and await a result that actually gives me something to worry about.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Because voting against something or someone, rather than for someone, can have undesireable consequences.

The spending plans of the left being one of them.

This result sets up the possibility of a clash with EU, GJ, farmers - and LePen positioning herself as some sort of saviour to all the resultant mess.

A bit like the reverse maybe of what was intended.

Far right surge in EU elections

Gabriel Attal presented his resignation to Macron who refused it, asking him to stay to ensure the stability of the country. He hasn't said it but he's afraid for the Olympic Games.
During this time, the new parliament will be established and groups will be formed there. The New Popular Front, a coalition only for the elections, will redivide into 4 parties which disagree on almost everything. The Horizon and Modem parties, allies of Macron, disapproved of the dissolution of June 9 and the center alliance also risks cracking. The National Rally will then become the largest party in Parliament. And it will be difficult for Macron to choose a new prime minister!
The rioters have already “celebrated” the NFP victory last night. If Mélenchon is not named Prime Minister by Macron, there is no doubt that he will send his hordes of rioters to sow chaos in the streets in revenge!
Macron will only have two options left:
- resign so that the people can choose a new president (who will have to deal with this chaos)
- or invoke article 16 of our Constitution which allows him to take full power if the country runs a risk (revolution, for example)
Life in France is likely to be interesting in the coming weeks/months!
Demain est le premier des jours qu'il nous reste à vivre: profitons-en ! :D
