Another idle session nosing around the internet discovered something I once owned that should have been kept as an investment. A 1964 Fender Stratocaster that I bought new for $290. They are available today in well-hammered condition for up to $30,000 plus.

While checking the latest posts on the Moto thread I was reminded of this comment.

Mine would probably make enough to pay for a new roof today. I didn't bother to look up the value of the Bandmaster amp and reverb. I was depressed enough.

On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Ditto . . . so many times over - like a 1950 Land Rover for £750 and two from 1949 at £800 the pair.

Many years ago my wife's friends mother in law passed away and subsequently gave OH a small bag containing old and battered, forks and spoons. I used a few for stirring paint and mixing up Polyfilla in the shed. I suddenly realised that they were all hallmarked, so transferred them to an indoor location, having now made arrangements to go back to the UK for a visit, I dug them out weighed them up and phoned a couple of scrap silver dealers. There is about 1kg in total, pawnbroker will give me £300, silver dealer £600, but the scrap spot price is 69p a gram so making £690, which might involve a bit of running around, so I will probably just take the £600 and be done with it.

Remember when you are selling stuff, the dealer you are selling to also has to make a living. £600 sounds like a pretty good price to me.

I've still got an almost pristine 1963 Selmer Hofner bass guitar & case I bought from my bass fiddle playing uncle about 50 years ago for 60 quid including a WEM Dominator valve amp.
Just looked it up & bass could be worth around 10,000€

In the early ‘70s I bought a 1948 BSA Gold Star combination m/c for £12/10s.
I sold it shortly after for £25 and wonder what its present day value would be.

Bear in mind that it was rather tatty, would have needed to be stored
and would have tied me in some way.
As things turned out the chap that I sold it to put it through the side of a bridge and it ended up in the canal below. He got in touch with a local army unit and they provided a crane to haul it out. I got into trouble for not notifying the licensing people. I don’t remember any real problems that developed from the event.
I recall being charged a few times by the FAF but not for this particular case.
