Scam savings accounts

#1 Post by MAD87 »

I've seen references over the last few weeks to a "Livret européen", offering 7.8% p.a. Last night I had a call from a woman claiming my OH had contacted them for more info and extolling the virtues of said livret.

UFC Que Choisir and other reputable organisations highlight these scams as a way to part a fool from his dosh, so be warned!

Thanks for the warning.
It's times like this I feel thankful I have no savings to invest. :)
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Whilst I am sure you are right about the phone call you received being a scam it must be said that the Livret Européen is a genuine new product, apparently to encourage 'those of modest means' to save.

I read one article by a high profile FA who advertises a lot in the Connexion offering a guaranteed property investment fund. No way can you guarantee it and if property hits a bad time then funds may not even be accessible.

That's interesting, but I wonder why the offer of 4-5% over the current livret rate?

To attract those who want more.
Ponzi comes to mind.
