This BBC article made me think of Hitler's views on propaganda and that Tiktok is the perfect platform for it :

The influence that Tiktok seems to have on younger generations is staggering and frankly, scary. I find it sad that it takes a Tiktok video to suggest people have good manners and to be more polite. Isn't that what parents should be doing ?

Tread carefully. You sound like you think basic concepts and attitudes should somehow be set as standards to be influenced by parents. In itself a very controversial idea and well out of date. Doesn't fit with the idea of letting social media "influencers" take over traditional parenting responsibility. Surely if social media can be trusted to spread fake news, racism, and terrorist indoctrination it can easily handle brainwashing of the young and stupid.

Silly me, of course it's no longer the case .... sadly. You're right HR, social media does a much better job with the easily led - young people who are far more likely to believe - even trust - the mindless blether of influencers than their parents.

It is a bit scary some of the crap youngsters believe just because they've read it on facebook/snap chat/ticktock etc. They don't seem to have the ability to question what they read let alone verify it.

What also concerns me though, is the UK government are going to introduce lessons in school teaching children how to spot "fake news" I'm not sure whether they're going to encourage children to investigate things for themselves or just trust what is coming from government authorised proper-gander.

Oh yes, newspeak etc. it's a bit weird the resemblance to what's going on now a days to that book.

It wasn't only facebook, I think all forms of social media where being forced to remove anything that didn't go along with Bill Gates' view.
But that sort of thing has been going on for a long time though. Take climate change for instance, When David Bellamy, a botanist and environmentalist said that global warming was due to the natural cycle that the planet goes through, he became a 'nonperson'.

A society that isn't allowed to have differing views on things and have to accept without question what the people in charge say, is not a society that I want to have anything to do with.
