You should be able to identify it and discover whether it is a reconstruction from these web site of French windmills https://www.moulins-a-vent.net/carteregions2016.htm or https://fdmf.fr/moulins-de-france/local ... -de-loire/
Presumably your phone recorded the GPS location?

It looks old doesn't it, well spotted and thanks for stopping to take a photo banjobob
Thanks for those links elsie, very interesting. They've given me an idea for a new project - I feel a photography road trip coming shortly.elsie wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 10:06 am You should be able to identify it and discover whether it is a reconstruction from these web site of French windmills https://www.moulins-a-vent.net/carteregions2016.htm or https://fdmf.fr/moulins-de-france/local ... -de-loire/

Even if it’s the original it’s likely to be a bit of a Trigger’s broom.

What is original in this context; they are repaired and bits replaced as needed over time so original could only refer to the site. During the Vendée Wars, for example, windmills were used for signalling by the ‘rebels’ and hence were destroyed by Republican troops. Many were rebuilt on the same site. Is that original or not?

Hi tag, another username from the past - how's Emily the duck?
That's a very good question nothing ever stays exactly the same does it, as you say they need repairing over time. Our house isn't original any more what with the beams we've replaced and the repairs we've done. I think if restoration's done sympathetically it's better than not having the building or thing at all.

One of those web sites I gave the link to also mentions windmills that have been relocated - presumably to make them more accessible as tourist attractions?

Re: Windmill not sure if it's an original one or a copy
Hello Char, yes its been a while and even longer on different forums. Have moved to the Pas de Calais for family reasons as was also tired of the Vendée. Emily is now an old duck but she still ducks and dives when there is food or danger about. Not bad for a vintage Hongkongduk.
Gives guests beaked ankles if they ignore her. She travels little in the car as she still feels she has to duck down when we go approach roundabouts and she is daunted by supermarkets as the kids run up to her and have to be chased off. The last time I took her to Leclerc she caused a scene by attacking a display of fois gras de canard screaming “duckassassins”, “meurtriers de canards” and something apparently very very obscene in Chinese which relates to boiling people’s private parts in oil and ….no, too much to tell.
So, yeah, life is much as before!
( sorry to have thread wandered but it is a one off)

Well I'm glad she's still with you and hasn't lost her personality
- it's good to know your OK as well.
Yep apologies to everyone for the thread drift.
Back on subject, I suppose it's good that these sorts of things are looked after because when everything goes tits up in the future, the youngster will need to know how these things work to survive.
