'The Austin 12 is a large four-door family saloon that was produced by Austin. It was launched in August 1939 and was produced until replaced in 1947.'
I think that is what it was called. I loved it because it had a running board, a roof map net, traffic indicators, foot rests in the back and airline type mounted fold down tables for the rear passengers. It also had a dicky for carrying luggage.

The A12 didn't have any heating either until my mechanical engineering father cobbled one together from an old vacuum hose. It worked well, never poisoned us and oh, did we appreciate it on those long A1 journeys north to visit relatives in Yorkshire at Christmas time!
