Battling mould

I have spent the last week emptying out 2 wardrobes where some of the clothes had become damaged by mould.
A good time to review and get rid of some stuff.
Sadly I have discovered 3 pairs of my shoes have to be scrapped. They have literally fallen to pieces. One pair of Ecco shoes that cost a lot of money. I googled the problem and apparently they are made using some sort of polymer for the heel and sole which will disintegrate after a few years. They don’t put that on the shoe box. I have written to them to complain.
I will never again buy a pair of shoes with synthetic heels.
I have also scrapped a pair of ‘leather’ boots which were in fact made of some material composed of a micron thick layer of leather fused with a material and then a similar thin piece of leather for the lining. What an absolute con. They literally fell apart when I moved them.
Oh well. Rant over.

I had the same problem with a pair of ecco shoes.......only I didn't notice the heel disintegration until folks at the do that I was at, kindly pointed out all the pieces that had fallen off and were all over the floor of the village hall !

I had a pair of Ecco shoes many years ago. The most comfortable shoes I can remember. They didn't last long I have to admit. I've been on either German made clogs or Clark's ever since.

I have contacted ECCO. Sent pics of the Ill fated shoes. Im not expecting anything but it will be interesting to see what their response is.

I very rarely wear heels but had a nice black strappy pair that was incredibly useful for evening dos. They were really comfortable but the heels and soles disintegrated after a few years so I had to ditch them. They weren't expensive and didn't owe me anything but I was sad to see them go.

Having discovered TBS shoes, I rarely wear anything else : a huge choice of styles and ranges like their baskets come in a variety of colours. Not cheap but often there are special offers and they're hard wearing too !

I’ve had a response from ECCO. I didn’t tell them exactly when or how much I paid for the shoes but as a goodwill offer they are offering me a 130 euro voucher!!!
I am looking at their website. All their shoes are 150 euros or more.
I will have to send the crumbling pair back and they will pay the postage.

I probably won’t bother having looked at the shoes and also the very recent Trustpilot reviews. They still have the same issues with disintegration as I had with mine that are more than 10 years old! What’s the point of buying more rubbish?

I wrote back to Ecco and refused their offer. My argument being that they produced shoes that are not repairable and that have a very short lifespan. They have responded and agree that their designs require improvement. Should I offer them some suggestions?
