@Blaze I dunno, I enjoy Celtic music enormously.
As for Motown/soul, I'm a big fan too, but my children have relieved me of so many recordings over the years that I have to start replacing (and hiding) them.

It's great that we all have different tastes - I like most music with the exception of heavy rock. When I need to calm myself which if frequently this works. Its not very long but it takes me away and does the trick but you have to listen to it on YouTube.

@Sparkle We've had this music for the last couple of Pilates sessions : very relaxing - I'll use it when I go to the gym ! The very last tune seemed familiar then I remembered it had been used in a TV advert !

Very soothing.
As for tastes, mine range wide - pretty much everything except "racket". I like to sing along or at least hum, so everything from Mahler to Queen. I've had the opportunity to attend many live performances (mostly in London) so marvelled to von Karijan and the Berlin Phil, the RPO, Ella Fitzgerald, via Oscar Peterson and other jazz greats. Now live music tends to be limited to chamber music, thanks to SIL. Oh and a bagpiper at son's wedding!

@MAD87 now Mahler I have a problem with. In the film Educating Rita Maureen Lipman was a bit hippyish in it and I think she may have ended up committing suicide ? But I have never forgot the music she was playing which I didn't like and then she said 'wouldn't you just die without Mahler' ...errrrr no I think I might die if I was forced to listen to Mahler

Sparkle, do you listen to ASMR videos on you tube?
I find the spoken voice very relaxing, and there are so many on there that you can find a voice you " resonate" with - sometimes literally, if you get "shoulder tingle" as I do - and return to that vid' repeatedly.
For relaxation, I find them very useful.

OK, let's replace Mahler with Beethoven.
I once suffered through a Harrison Birtwistle Prom, after which I was ready to throw myself under the first bus that came along, alone or one of 3.
