It's funny, idiosyncrasies tends to imply that the French are the strange ones, maybe they've got it right, and it is the brits that are strange.🤣🤣

Most fail or hang halfway through and links do not work.
Almost never state prices and make you request a devis (making it impossible to do comparisons)
Are covered in glossy photos of happy people and have nothing to do with the subject being offered.
Do not always cover the important aspects such as all the specifications and dimensions of the object.

I have to agree with that. I have lost count of the number of times that I hear of a shop and wonder if they have a website. Search - yes they do!

And the website has the name of the shop, the address, telephone number, maybe the hours of opening - and absolutely nothing else. No slight clue as to what goods they sell.

@demi My OH and I share an email address. We have no secrets so why would we want/need different addresses. Having said that she uses social media and messaging sites to contact others ( Facecrook, Viber and others) just as I use this site which she rarely looks at.

I don’t think anyone is saying anyone is strange just things are different

It's not a question of secrets but I'm glad I don't share an email with OH - he seems to get loads of junk ! Whilst we have common interests/hobbies, we also have our own interests/friends etc.
We've always had our own computers/laptops for work, so that might make a difference. OH has always done loads of translating which comes in batches so if we shared a computer, it would have been a problem with my own work.
Having my own email addresses is no different from having my own mobile - though of course we do share the fixed line :lol:

I've just thought of something that we've found funny : at a meal with a group of people, French couples seem to prefer to sit together and indeed are sometimes horrified at the thought of being separated. We like the opportunity to talk to other people, whether we know them or not.

Our benevolent interpreters asso has an annual dinner and OH and I introduced the concept of changing places for each course so you get the chance to talk to different people. Far from being frowned on, it's gone down brilliantly !

@Blaze
There lies a difference between our and your use of the email. Mme Exile has been a lady of leisure for the best part of 30 years. I had a work laptop. So a single PC - now laptop - sufficed for personal use between the two of us. That has continued into retirement. However we both have tablets so although we only access emails through the laptop, we both have other means of communication.

Buying in larger quantities unit prices are often more expensive
Eg it is often cheaper to buy 2 x 6 bottles of beer vs a 12 pack

I am not saying the French are strange rather the things Brits find strange when they move to France. The French living in the U.K. would find some British customs strange

@rabbit We've noticed that too. It's often better to buy two small jars than one big one.
