Beware of rigorously applying UK "rules" to French gardening. Probably the important item from that piece is that grass stops growing (strongly*) below 10°C. I remember our geography teacher instilling something similar - although it was "stops growing below 40°F". Our biology teacher knew nothing of this and insisted it was at best a useful approximation of the truth. Lower temperatures would slow down growth significantly but not stop it.
So certainly hold off mowing if the temperatures are dropping regularly below freezing but if the grass is growing strongly and there is no immediate threat of frost, then mow as necessary.

@exile thanks for the info. This week we've woken up to frosts each morning and although we've had some sun during the day it's turned very cold in the early evening but this morning was a complete white out. Tis usual at this time of year every year for us !
